I spent Saturday afternoon with the families of Jessica and Mark in Richmond, Virginia for their fabulous wedding at Willow Oaks Country Club. Brent and I met up with Jessica at her parents home where she was having her makeup finished by Vamps and Vixens makeup artists. Meanwhile, a few miles away, Paige was helping me out with the guys getting ready.

Dee from Occassions Events met us Willow Oaks where she was busy with day off staging. Jessica got her veil pinned in and scooted off for a first look with Mark. She was anxious but radiant as ever. She has a beautiful smile that fills the room and its so sweet how Mark adores her. Can't you just feel the love. Such a sweet couple with a great sense of humor and fun all the way around from their dance down the aisle to their funky glow stick exit.

Here are some memorable and fun moments ... I took these with my point and shoot Nikon D40 since professional equipment isn't allowed in the arena. One of the most entertaining parts of WWE events is getting to see all of the fan signs. There were a lot of John Cena fans (more about Cena later) in the arena so no surprise to see this one:

JBL (or John "Bradshaw" Layfield), who some of you may recognize from Fox News/CNBC where he is a regular panelist and whose wife is featured in the cover story of Fortune magazine this week, tries to offer the current reigning Heavyweight Champ, Punk a truce via a shot of Jack Daniels. I applaud Punk for his positive messaging and standing true to the values that made him so uniquely him and refusing the Jack Daniels but toasting JBL with a shot of his own.

One of my favorite parts of the night was when hometown girl, Mickie James got annihilated and owned by the Glamazon, Beth Phoenix! I love Beth and wish more female wrestlers actually... well, wrestled. Santino Marello also had some choice words. He's a maniac and funny as hell!

Cena and Batista "The Animal" partnered for an unlikely tag team match and ended up in an all out brawl as a lead up to their pay per view Summer Slam match next week. These guys are complete maniacs!

There was even a special guest in the audience -- George Thorogood, whose apparently a huge wrestling fan as well.

Last Saturday I was back in action in my hometown of Savannah, Georgia. I heard there had been 108F heat advisories all week. That could only mean one thing in Savannah ... it's AUGUST! Storms had rolled in on Friday evening and I was worried about what the weather was going to be like on Saturday. Believe it or not, the skies opened up into the bluest fields with wonderful white fluffy clouds by midday! I know they say rain is good luck on your wedding day, but its still rain.

Julia was finishing up her makeup when we arrived at the gorgeous River Street Inn. The Inn has bright, open rooms with floor to ceiling windows that make great window light.

I always gravitate immediately to the dress and shoes. Well... what gal doesn't love shoes! These are some of my favorites. Sexy and look pretty comfy!

As we started making our way outside to head for the church, we noticed this seatee in the hallway. I love shooting in Savannah's Inns because they have some really nice accents in the decor. We spent a few minutes doing some nice low light portraits. Here is my favorite:

Then we snuck outside to the alley. Did I mention Julia was a radiantly beautiful bride.

Off to the church, the amazing Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. A few quick details as everyone is arriving. Hydrangeas have been in almost all of my weddings this year. It doesn't get any more Southern than that!

After a beautiful mass ceremony, we finished some quick family portraits in the cathedral and moved outside for more casual pictures. It's all about the interaction! The girls all look beautiful.

On that note, we're taking a few extra days in and around Savannah so we'll be out of the office Friday until Tuesday. Feel free to leave me an email. I won't be able to return phone messages until I return but I'll return emails in the late afternoon everyday (except Saturday of course while we're photographing the wedding).

And now for a little random fun....

I saw this on a forum recently... a blog dedicated to cakes gone wrong.

How about some cake goodness now. I really LOVE cake. I love everything about it... photographing it, making it, but especially eating it. Here are some of my favorite cakes from weddings of lately:

FABulous pinkness! I love the flowers and how perfectly girlie this cake looks.

I see ALOT of college alma mater and football cakes. Back in April Ryan and Julie went all out and had a Georgia Southern themed wedding. The cake color was matched to the sashes of her bridesmaids dresses and has amazing scroll detail. The GSU Eagles cake has to be the most tasteful (and tasty) groom's cake I've ever seen. Check more of this cake out (and a little about their wedding) in the upcoming issue of Georgia Southern's alum magazine.

For the truly diehard football fanatics, you don't just have a football groom's cake, you plan your wedding on your two favorite college football teams rivalry game day. Shannon, a UT fan, and Todd, a Florida Gators fan, did just that. The catering staff of the Marshall house also did a fabulous job of presenting the cut cake. So pretty!

Speaking of amazing groom's cake, check out this sailboat cake from Shelley and Thomas' wedding last year in Atlanta at the amazing Renaissance Biltmore Hotel.

If you are from Ohio or Western Pennsylvania, you know all about the beer barrel polka (among other polkas) and the cookie table. I love cookies so I was happy to learn about this tradition last year at Ann and Keith's Hilton Head Island wedding. The tradition is also popular in Greek, Italian and Eastern European countries (who all are known for very yummy confections). The recipes are passed through the maternal order of the family and the bride's mother, grandmother and bridesmaids coem together to share their best cookie recipes for the cookie smorgasboard!

At the beginning of this week, we met up with Jessica and Mark at the Farmer's Market in Shockhoe Bottom section of downtown Richmond to photograph their engagement pictures. They are a really fun loving couple and the bright murals around Shockhoe made a perfect setting for their personalities. Here are some favorites:

Stacy called me about photographing her wedding last fall. She was bubbling with an excitement and I could feel that sense of anticipation build over the months as she planned her special day. By the time the day finally arrived, Stacy was simply glowing with love and anticipation. When I arrived, Stacy had just slipped into her dress. SHe wore her grandmother's pearls and had the cutest slippers. Everyone knows what a shoe fanatic I am so I couldn't resist admiring them.

It was really hard to just choose a few pictures of Stacy to post. Every single one looked as gorgeous as these. You can just see how happy and relaxed she was to be getting married and the camera loved her. Doesn't hurt having a stunningly gorgeous bride either!

The ceremony and reception were at the Shorehouse of Palmetto Dunes, Ocean Front Resort. I love the silver, black and white accents with crystal coated tree branches on the table tops.

Liz and Tony had a fabulous Beaufort, SC wedding to kick off May! The bride got dressed at the Rhett House just steps away from the tented reception courtyard. Liz was simply radiant and so excited about her big day! She had a few surprises during the day including her grandfather's business card and a horse drawn carriage tour through historic Beaufort. Liz and Tony partied into the night with the Tony Howard Band before slipping away into the night.

I drove out to Clover Forest Plantation yesterday to meet Ashley and Myron for a quick engagement session. They are the sweetest, most adorable couple and I hope the weather is as gorgeous in July as it was yesterday.
